Still coughing several days after smoking weed?

I smoked weed for the first time 3 days ago, and I only hit it twice. The second time it burned my throat and I started coughing pretty badly. Now, I still have this horrible cough that sounds similar to one you would have if you had bronchitis. Is this normal throat irritation or what? I regret smoking, and I'm never going to do it again, so please don't criticize me for my actions. Thank you!
