My Boat is wearing me OUt Zapping my water Energy.HLP?

WHen I run my boat in the yard as I put it in Gear forward the prop spins forward..When I put it in reverse the prop also spins forward.In orther words it spins the same way no matter which gear I put it in..Anyone know why? Could that be the cause of my boat not moving in water? b4 I take it to the boat shop,the cost just may make me sell the boat and I just bought it...PLEASE HELP....
