I jumped in to a lake with my friends and i am afraid for amebas?

hey me and my friends jumped into a lake today. i was afraid of amebas and alligators. but my friends told me it would be alright. so i got in buy tried to keep my head above water. only a little water got in through my nose. and i am just worried about amebas. is there a specific ameba season or are there symptoms of having them. btw i live in florida and its pretty darn hot. thanks
