Common symbols in Alive in Wonderland?

For my art final I'm doing a more modern take on Alice in Wonderland. For the background, I want to do some of the symbols/imagery from the movie (mushrooms, hookah, ect) Do you have any ideas of images that people would ociate with the movie? Thanks
